Genevieve Turner Muckle

Genevieve Turner Muckle is the founder and CEO of Opal Advocacy, a full-service government relations and business consulting firm headquartered in Nashville, TN. Genevieve specializes in lobbying strategy, nonprofit management, professional leadership development, narrative framing, and contract fidelity between the public and private sectors.

Prior to founding Opal Advocacy, Genevieve has held executive leadership roles in multiple nonprofits with direct oversight over millions in federal and state grants, policy and government affairs, media and messaging, and leadership development. Beyond nonprofit and government work, she also served in a leadership role for an international metal fabrication business. Most recently, Genevieve served as Chief of Staff for the largest prison programming and reentry organization in Tennessee.
 

Genevieve’s experience began nearly twenty years ago in the district attorney’s office working with victims of crime in felony sessions court. Victim advocacy work continued as she leaned into working primarily with victims, survivors, and perpetrators of domestic violence. This path led Genevieve to law school and after practicing civil litigation for a brief stint, she returned to the public sector. As Special Counsel to the
Knox County Sheriff, she primarily served the Family Crisis Unit which handles domestic violence, severe child abuse and internet crimes, and elder abuse.
 

While working in the public sector, Genevieve began working with young women at risk for gang involvement. This was a paradigm-shifting moment that served as the first seed in nearly two decades of research on best practices in public safety, victim reconciliation, the criminal justice system from policing to reentry, and evidence-based interdictions.

Genevieve lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, two cats, and three snakes. She enjoys reading theology and philosophy, happy hours with funny people, and traveling despite her deep fear of flying.
